The problem

Sealer stops stains. It doesn't stop etching.

Etching is acid dissolving the surface of the stone. A penetrating sealer sits in the pores and does nothing about it, which is why sealed marble still gets rings. These are the marks we restore every week.

Etch rings and dull haze on a dark marble vanity
Etch rings around a vessel sink: water, soap, and cleaners.
Dull etch marks scattered across a honed stone countertop
Spill marks across a honed counter. Every one is a tiny acid burn.
Light quartz countertop after polishing
A quartz counter we polished. Builder-grade quartz rings and stains too.

How it works

Bonded into the stone, not sitting on it

Most etch protection products are a film or a thick resin on top of the stone. Ours is a single-part coating that forms a covalent bond with the surface, cross-linking at the molecular level so it becomes part of it.

  • Breathable: moisture vapor escapes instead of clouding under a film
  • Looks and feels like natural stone
  • Matte for honed stone, gloss for polished
  • No edges or seams to lift or bubble
  • Handles everyday warm dishes
  • Works on marble, limestone, travertine, and quartz

Our process

Restore first, then protect

Coating locks in whatever is underneath, so we fix the stone first. That's our everyday work.

  1. Close-up of etching beside a vessel sink before restoration

    Assess

We test the surface and confirm what is etching, staining, or wear.

  2. Polishing an Emperador marble countertop before coating

    Restore

Honing, polishing, and deep cleaning take out existing etch marks, scratches, and stains first.

  3. Coat

One even application in matte or gloss. It bonds into the surface; nothing to peel later.

  4. Restored white marble vanity top

    Cure and care

We tell you when it is ready for use and leave a simple care card.

Finish

Matte or gloss: keep the look you chose

Matte

For honed marble, limestone, and modern kitchens. Protection without adding shine.

Gloss

For polished marble and quartz. Keeps the depth and reflection of a polished slab.

Compare

Our coating vs. films, epoxies, and urethanes

FeatureOur covalent coatingFilms, epoxies & urethanes
Breathability Lets moisture vapor escape from the stone.Epoxies, urethanes, and films can trap moisture under the surface, which can cloud the stone.
Look and feel Looks and feels like your stone. Matte or gloss.Films and thick coatings can add a plastic sheen or wavy reflection.
Bond Bonds chemically into the surface. No edges or seams to lift.Sits on top of the stone. Film edges and seams are where lifting starts.
Acid protection Highly etch-resistant. Time to wipe up wine, citrus, and sauce. Acids left overnight can still get through.Blocks acid fully, but the layer itself can be cut, scratched, or worn through.
Repair A damaged spot can often be spot-treated.A damaged film usually means peeling off and replacing the sheet.

Quartz too

Wait, quartz etches?

Quartz was sold as bulletproof. Premium slabs hold up, but plenty of builder-grade quartz uses resins that ring, dull, and stain. If your newer quartz is marking, we can repair it and coat it so it finally behaves the way you were promised.

Common questions

Etch-resistant coating FAQ

Is the coating etch-proof?

We say highly etch-resistant, on purpose. Products sold as 100% etch-proof wrap the stone in plastic film or thick resin, which brings peeling, seams, and a plastic look. Ours stops everyday spills from etching and gives you time to wipe them up.

What if I leave a spill overnight?

Because the coating breathes, it is not a sealed plastic dome. A harsh acid left pooling for hours, like a lemon slice under a cutting board overnight, can work through and lightly mark the stone. That turns instant damage into a small spot we can usually treat.

Why does it matter that the stone can breathe?

Marble, limestone, and travertine are porous. Thick epoxies, urethanes, and films can trap moisture vapor underneath, which can cause cloudy spots and discoloration. A breathable coating lets that vapor out while still blocking spills on the surface.

Will my marble look or feel like plastic?

No. The coating bonds into the surface instead of sitting on top like a sticker, so the stone keeps its clarity, veining, and feel. Choose matte for honed stone or gloss for polished.

I have quartz countertops. Do I need this?

Maybe. Premium quartz holds up well, but a lot of builder-grade quartz uses resins that ring, dull, and stain. If you see marks on your quartz, the coating adds the protection the slab is missing.

Do you have to restore the stone first?

If it is etched, scratched, or stained, yes. The coating protects the surface as it is, so we hone, polish, or deep-clean first. That is our everyday work, so it is one visit, one team.

How much does it cost?

It is priced by the square foot, based on the surface and how much restoration it needs first. Text us photos and rough measurements for a free quote.
